Saputo takeover could be best for Murray Goulburn farmers

Pending regulatory and shareholder approval, the co-op could be in the hands of Canadian dairy giant Saputo by early next year.

Farmers are upset about the demise of the company but are nervous about passing it into to foreign hands.

The takeover would leave Australia with only one Australian-owned major dairy company, but analysts say it’s likely to be Murray Goulburn’s best option.
