Up to 5,000 people are expected to attend the visitation and funeral for John Pagel and his son-in-law Steve Witcpalek this weekend, reports the Green Bay Press Gazette.
Pagel is a well-known dairy farmer from Northeast Wisconsin, growing his farm from 60 cows to well over 5,000 over his 40-year career. He was also instrumental in forming the Wisconsin Dairy Business Association and Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative. Witcpalek was herdsman at the dairy.
Pagel, 58, Witcpalek, 39, and pilot Nathan Saari were killed February 22 when their plane crashed into an Indiana farm field as they were attempting to return from Indianapolis. The cause of that crash is still under investigation.
The visitation was so large that it was held at the Kewaunee High School. The funeral is being held Saturday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kewaunee.
