A one-litre bottle of milk from Coles jumped from $1.35 to $1.60, while a two-litre bottle of milk jumped 50 cents to $3.10
Emma Germano, President of the Victorian Farmers Federation, said while it’s “a good thing” for farmers, it’s only just covering other costs they face.
“They’re benefiting a little bit at the moment,” she told Tom Elliot on 3AW Drive.
“But again we’ve got fertiliser prices, labour prices, diesel, all these input costs on our farms are going through the roof, and certainly increasing by more than 30 per cent, even from this time last year.
“So we’re going to have to see that retail price keep up, and wonder whether-0r-not with inflation and everything that’s happening if it’s going to be enough”.
