A large “passive aggressive” sign in the dairy aisle of one Coles supermarket has set tongues wagging on social media.
A Coles customer shared an image of the green notice on Reddit after spotting it on display at an Adelaide store.
The sign reads: “Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn’t mean we all have.”
In their post, the shopper appeared to be taken aback by the statement.
“Coles the Avenues [Shopping Centre]. Adelaide’s premier passive aggressive supermarket,” the shopper wrote.
Some Reddit users were also stumped by the sign.
“That is literally and figuratively, over my head,” said one.
However others were quick to solve the mystery of the meaning behind the sign.
Harry Potter fans explained that it was a quote from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
The line, said by Hermione to Ron, has been voted one of the “sassiest comebacks” in the J. K. Rowling book series.
A second image shared by the shopper showed six more Harry Potter themed signs through the chilled section.
It seems Coles has erected the sign to celebrate its latest Harry Potter collectibles promotion.
The supermarket has partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to launch Magical Builders, which brings Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts characters to life.
Customers can take home a free Coles Magical Builder character with every $30 spent in one transaction at Coles supermarkets, Coles Online and Coles Express.
There are more than 30 characters to collect, including five special edition collectibles.
