Go by rules or face closure, dairy owners warned

PPCB member secretary Karuneh Garg told dairy owners to treat/reuse or make legal disposal arrangements for effluents within 30 days or face closure. They were also told to manage cow dung waste.

In the hearing on Tuesday, chief environment engineer GS Majithia and senior environment engineer Sandeep Behl represented the PPCB. Some of the dairy owners did not attend the proceedings. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had directed the authorities concerned to ensure that diary effluents didn’t end up in drains.

The incident happened on Saturday when the dairy owner sent the accused to collect payment of ₹2 lakh from a hotel at Ludhiana-Ferozepur road; he collected the payment but did not come back to work
