Mondelez India will invest Rs 1,600 crore to fuel expansion of its manufacturing plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

For this purpose, the food major also hosted a virtual groundbreaking ceremony, which was presided by Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and other dignitaries.

The investment is geared towards adding chocolate-making capacity over the next three years, which will also facilitate employment creation in the state. The additional capacity will escalate Sri City to the ranks of Mondelez International’s largest chocolate production plants globally.

For the maker of Cadbury Dairy Milk and Oreo, the investment is part of its larger plan involving Rs 4,000 crore for the 2023-26 period, which will be utilised for the ramp-up at existing factories, as well as warehousing, logistics, and cold-chain infrastructure in the country.
