  1. Holstein: It is one of the most prevalent breeds worldwide and is also common in Mexico. Holstein cows are known for their high milk production, although their fat content may be lower compared to other breeds.
  2. Jersey: This breed is known for producing milk with high fat and protein content. Although their milk production per cow may be lower than Holsteins, the quality of the milk, in terms of fat content, can be superior.
  3. Brown Swiss: Also used in dairy production in Mexico, these cows strike a balance between milk production and quality. They are appreciated for their adaptability to different climatic conditions.
  4. Ayrshire: Another breed found in some regions of Mexico, although to a lesser extent. They have good milk production and are known for their resilience.

The Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) states, “Mexico has a strong and thriving dairy sector that has seen a 9 percent increase in production over the last five years, with the estimate for 2023 surpassing 13,340 million liters,” emphasized Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Víctor Villalobos Arámbula.
