Assam agriculture minister Atul Bora said a milk processing plant with a capacity to produce 1,00,000 litres of milk per day will be set up in Cachar district of Assam.

Bora held a meeting in Silchar with officials of various departments to review the progress of work of various government schemes in Barak Valley.

The minister directed the officers of animal husbandry and veterinary department, dairy development department concerned to expedite the departmental works for farmers’ benefits and asked officials of the dairy sector to pay special attention to the sector’s functioning.

In the meet, minister Bora enquired about the current implementation of various schemes, including PM-Kisan, National Edible Oil Mission-Oil Date (NMEO-OP), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Millet Mission, Krishak Gyan Kendra Nirman Yojana in the three districts of Barak Valley. He also reviewed the latest status of animal vaccination campaign under the department of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, availability of veterinary drugs, artificial insemination of cattle and other related aspects.

The minister, who also took stock of the current situation of the inter-state borders in Barak Valley, said he is optimistic of proper implementation of all the schemes.
